Situations vacant

Folks, for the upcoming season we have a number of positions that need to be filled for the club to continue to expand and improve.

<detail>Folks, for the upcoming season we have a number of positions that need to be filled for the club to continue to expand and improve.</detail>
<detail>The first and possibly most important is the role of catering manager. Jacqui has done a sterling job over the past few seasons and now the time has come for her to hand over the reins to another.</detail>
<detail>We need either one person or a couple of people prepared to manage the catering on a Sunday morning. This involves not only the burgers, bacon and sausage rolls and teas, coffees and hot chocolates that many people rely on to get them through the morning but also the hot meal for our junior members and their visiting opponents to enjoy in the clubhouse after a hard morning on the park. Assistance on the day will be provided by the duty age groups.</detail>
<detail>The second role we need to fill is that of First Aid officer, we need someone ideally with some form of first aid or medical experience prepared to take on this role. Responsibilities include, keeping the first aid kits stocked to the correct level and ensuring we have sufficient first aid cover for both training and festivals.</detail>
<detail>The Third role we want to fill is a new one for the club, Recruitment manager. As recruitment manager you will be responsible for arranging the recruitment of new players for the club.</detail>
<detail>For further details of any of the above roles please contact the club volunteer coordinator, Russ Baldwin. See the Contacts page for details.</detail>

Parents and Coaches matches

Those of you who have been members of the club for a little while may have heard of our Parents and Coaches Matches.

<detail>Those of you who have been members of the club for a little while may have heard of our Parents and Coaches Matches. This is as the name suggests is a game of Rugby played by our Parents and Coaches, the game is 15-a-side Rugby (tackling) with lots of subs and not TAG Rugby - although we do have TAG matches later in the season.</detail>
<detail>The games are normally held after Sunday training against other like minded clubs, it is great for our children to watch us and support us for a change - although you do hear a lot of comments about that's not how we teach them to play!!</detail>
<detail>To make the games more enjoyable (and to give us all a rest) we play in 4 20 min quarters (home games - port and oranges at each break) with rolling subs which means you can come off for a rest if needed.</detail>
<detail>We play about 3 or 4 of these games a year against other clubs with similar teams - the games are played in a friendly fun spirit as most of us are older than we like to admit and many have not played Rugby for a long time or not at all.</detail>
<detail>If you have not played Rugby before, you are more than welcome to give it ago and join in - the club will provide the shirts so all you will need is boots (Georgina in the kit shop has lots of 2nd hand boot for adults as well as children), socks, gum shield, shorts and a good sense of fun.</detail>
<detail>To view the matches which have been arranged, see any of the club diary pages. If you are interested in playing please contact Simon Davies (see the Contacts page for details), and tell him which dates you can make, if you have played before or not and your preferred playing position.</detail>
<detail>We the Parents and Coaches team appreciate all the support we can get at these matches so if you want to see a fun and enjoyable game of Rugby - please come along and support us. You can always join us in the bar afterwards to help us re-live those glorious 30 seconds of magic!!</detail>

Calling all parents...

The moment you've all been waiting for, the duty rota for 07/08 is available!

<detail>As you know, our wonderful club is run by volunteers - mostly parents - including our coaches who work so hard every sunday.</detail>
<detail>The one task we ask ALL parents to get involved in is to help set up and clear up once in a while. This isn't an onerous task, and one which each age group only has to do on around five occasions each year.</detail>
<detail>The duty rota is now published in the diary for the 2007/08 season (minis, youth, girls) - see the last column, so could you all please put the dates for your age group in your diaries and please make yourself available to your age group coach on the day. Many thanks.</detail>
